Why is this the best site for GTA 5 Mod installation? Why not just watch YouTube videos or wait for replies which seemingly never come on Forums? Here are the Top Ten reasons in no particular order.

  1. This site is maintained. Articles are current for 2023 and will be continually updated unlike YouTube videos which might be completely outdated particularly after all the GTA 5 updates and patches. Links are all maintained as well, you won't find link rot. Why watch something from 2020?

  2. The information on this site is designed to be clear and concise, with just what you need to quickly install your mods rather than trudge through long boring videos, many of which aren't even in English. And you don't need to pause like you would with a video or rewind. You read at your own pace and there are links for those who want to go deeper.

  3. Accuracy. Unlike many YouTube videos which have unbelievable errors, all instructions in these pages, including our own videos, are properly documented and tested. Nothing is done from memory or taken from other sites.

  4. Text can be copied and pasted directly from the pages, for example paths to folders in Windows or Open IV. This is obviously impossible with videos. You need to stop the video and write things down such as P:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update.

  5. Expertise. The principal author has years of experience with Computer systems, gaming, and modding. He never posts anything unless it is tested as he writes.

  6. This site is non-monetized. No nags for subscriptions, likes, or notifications. It should also be ad free but that is out of our control as it is hosted by Blogger. No patreon begging either. No sponsored content.

  7. Hyperlinks allow you to go forward and back easily. Opening multiple tabs in your browser is also possible. And best of all the site is searchable.

  8. Unlike forums, the advice here is accurate and verified and all the articles stay on-topic.

  9. The site also has videos. Do videos still have their place? Absolutely, but after much thought, the process of mod installation is better served through a website with text and screenshots as well. And who really wants to search through lengthy outdated videos. Particularly those screaming for your subscription and likes while playing distracting, crap background music.

  10. This site is self-moderated unlike some forums where any editorial disagreements will lead to your post being locked or deleted. No censorship here but content is clean and respectful.

  The dlclist.xml also has a few differences with the other mod files we've covered so far. First, unlike all the other mods discussed except the gameconfig.xml, the dlclist.xml can't be installed with Windows Explorer. It can only be installed with OpenIV (or CodeWalker RPF Explorer ) because it is located in the package called update.rpf which is encrypted. 1. Your Mod Journey Starts Here

  Before we embark on this exciting modding journey, before we start installing anything, a quick overview of what your modded game folder structure will look like. This structure is the starting point, so let's get it right to avoid problems downstream. The screenshot below is what your GTA 5 folder structure will be after your first game install. You will have roughly 44 items (files and folders) in the installation folder . We will also refer to this folder, where GTA5.exe is located, as the root folder or the game folder . 3. Configuring Open IV

  Now that you've installed OpenIV, let's do some basic setup and configuration. 1. Launch OpenIV and hit the Edit button at the top. Select Ok when you get the warning. Another message in blue will appear to install plugin for GTA V. Click on the ASI Manager button to continue. Click on the picture below for full size . 2. When the GTA V - ASI Manager pops up, install all 3 selections: The ASI Loader, OpenIV.asi, and openCamera. Notice the warning about getting banned if you play GTA online with mods. There is very little danger of that happening. Read this article: Online without Ban 3. You will also get a message to create a Mods folder, select yes and accept the defaults. Note that the folder created by OpenIV will be empty. Note: You can go back to the GTA V - ASI Manager above at any time. Just select Tools from the top menu of OpenIV and then ASI Manager .
